Rib Treatment and Breathing Assessment Pro Tip

Many thoracic, shoulder, cervical and some lumbar cases require breathing assessment and rib treatment.
For my thoracic/breathing lab in a recent live Modern Manual Therapy Seminar, one of the participants suggested that the patient cover her own breast to make the physical boundaries of the assessment and treatment more concrete. Even though you may explain the technique or assessment, the patient may feel uncomfortable, not really understanding what you were going to do. Having them cover themselves is an additional layer to a potentially mentally uncomfortable technique.
