5 Squat Training Progressions -

The Motion Guidance Clinician Kit is one of my favorite in clinic and at home tools for patient's to get visual feedback on their motion and motor control. My colleague over at MG recently posted a great video on how to progress your patients on squat training using the Motion Guidance.

I'd like to share with you a video walking through various phases of closed chain loading with MotionGuidance®. In this tutorial, I'll also explain how I set up the MG laser based on the exercises, so you can quickly standardize the exercise drill.

  • Progression 1: Double Leg Squat
  • Progression 2A: Split Squat
  • Progression 2B: Split Squat modified load
  • Progression 3: Lateral Side Step
  • Progression 4A: Single Leg Squat
  • Progression 4B: Single Leg Squat: Unstable
  • Progression 5: Single Leg Multi-Directional Loading

These progressions are a great way to add challenge and engagement with your clients, and allowing them to view their unaffected side vs their affected side with REAL TIME feedback to performance will motivate them and highlight the importance of their rehab.
