Clinical Pearl: Repeated Motion for the TMJ

The TMJ is apparently one of the joints that is difficult to find a reliable loading/unloading strategy via MDT to help with the Sx of TMD.

I have actually given this to some patients who were not getting the normal benefit from cervical retractions, but had not tried it on myself. Try instructing this for patients who have facial pain, TMJ pain, earache or tinnitus to see if it helps. Note, the patient should be sitting upright when performing this.
