Article Summary: Asymptomatic Achilles, Patellar, and Quadriceps Tendinopathy on Diagnostic Ultrasound

via Sports Medicine Research

The authors of this study longitudinally assessed whether or not abnormal findings in tendons for fencers lead to injuries. None of the initially "normal" patellar tendons had injuries at long term follow up, but only 2 out of the 8 abnormal patellar tendons did. The achilles tendons had similar results with 1 out of 70 "normal" becoming symptomatic, and 1 out of 4 abnormal achilles tendons became symptomatic.
